Uzbekistan crushes Panama 6–1 to reach U-17 World Cup round of 16
A commanding win secured Uzbekistan’s second place in the group and a ticket to the round of 16.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup continues in Qatar, where Uzbekistan’s national under-17 football team faced Panama in their third and final group-stage match on November 11. Uzbekistan dominated with a 6–1 victory.
The first half was evenly contested, with both sides creating opportunities. However, Panama had a clear chance to take the lead in the 21st minute when Estevis Lopez took a penalty kick – but his shot was saved by Uzbekistan’s goalkeeper Ibrohim Shokirov.
After the break, Uzbekistan took control of the game and launched a series of attacks that overwhelmed their opponents. Abubakir Shukurullaev opened the scoring in the 48th minute, followed by goals from Sadriddin Hasanov in the 52nd and Sayfiddin Sodiqov in the 67th minute, bringing the score to a comfortable lead. In the final minutes, Jamshidbek Rustamov, Asilbek Aliyev, and Abdusamad Saidov also found the net. Panama managed to score a consolation goal before the final whistle.
In another Group J match, Ireland and Paraguay played to a goalless draw (0–0).
As a result, Ireland finished top of the group with 7 points, followed by Uzbekistan with 6 points, securing both teams a place in the round of 16. Paraguay ended with 4 points, while Panama was left without a single point.
Uzbekistan’s opponent in the knockout stage will be determined later, after all group-stage matches conclude.
