Uzbekistan to launch new car production plant in Syrdarya with Chinese partners
A $122 million automobile production project will be launched next year in Syrdarya district of the Syrdarya region in cooperation with Chinese partners. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the initiative on 4 December during an extraordinary session of the Syrdarya Regional Council of People’s Deputies.
It was noted that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan recently launched the Central Asia International Industrial Cooperation Center in Syrdarya district. Fourteen industrial enterprises worth $300 million are expected to begin operations at the center by the end of the first quarter of next year, while an additional 40 new projects worth $720 million will be placed there in 2026.
According to the president, 5,000 residents of the region are currently employed in 31 enterprises established in recent years together with Chinese investors, with a total value of $500 million. Work is also progressing on another 40 joint projects with Chinese partners worth $700 million.
The territory of the Syrdarya Free Industrial Zone has been expanded by 1,080 hectares, incorporating the cities of Yangiyer, Gulistan and Shirin, as well as the districts of Syrdarya, Boyovut, Gulistan, Mirzaabad, Oqoltin and Khovos.
The president stressed that every part of the industrial zone must now host projects that generate high added value.
