Brazil appoints new ambassador to Uzbekistan
Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov has received Brazil’s newly appointed ambassador to Uzbekistan, Sergio Rodrigues dos Santos, based in Moscow.
Following the talks, Saidov wrote on his Telegram channel that the meeting focused on the growing pace of bilateral cooperation and the wide range of opportunities for expanding ties despite the geographical distance between the two countries. “We discussed the positive dynamics in our relations and explored new areas for practical cooperation. I wish the ambassador every success in his mission,” he said.
Rodrigues dos Santos, 57, is a career diplomat who has served in senior positions at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at overseas missions since 1995.
He succeeds Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares, who served as Brazil’s ambassador to Uzbekistan from 2022 to 2025.
