Presidents of Uzbekistan and Paraguay discuss strengthening bilateral partnership
The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held high-level talks with the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, at the Kuksaroy residence. The discussions focused on advancing practical cooperation and identifying new areas for partnership.
President Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed his Paraguayan counterpart, noting the historic nature of the visit – the first by a Latin American head of state to Uzbekistan. He expressed confidence that the summit would mark the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed priority areas for expanding cooperation, including trade, economic ties, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, education, and other areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on increasing mutual trade, fostering business partnerships, and promoting joint initiatives in agriculture, food and chemical industries, digital technologies, tourism, and sports.
The presidents also exchanged views on key regional and international issues.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political dialogue and deepening practical cooperation across areas of shared interest.
