At the twelfth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, the law "On the state budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2026" was approved.

The Senate press service said the draft law was thoroughly reviewed with the participation of the general public and relevant institutions, including during sessions of local councils and meetings of Senate committees. In the process, in-depth analyses were conducted on the distribution of budget funds, as well as on the justification and effectiveness of priority areas.

Senators emphasized that the 2026 state budget prioritizes improving living standards, enhancing public welfare, developing a “green economy,” protecting the environment, expanding access to health care, and ensuring quality education.

In particular, nearly 55 percent of state budget expenditures – UZS 220 trillion – will be allocated to the social sector. Of this amount, UZS 100 trillion is earmarked for education and UZS 49 trillion for health care, representing an increase of 11.4 percent compared with the current year.

Under the law, inflation in 2026 is projected to be around 7 percent. State budget expenditures are set at UZS 402.6 trillion, while revenues are projected at UZS 368.9 trillion. Revenues of state targeted funds are expected to total UZS 78.6 trillion, with expenditures of UZS 74.4 trillion.

Consolidated budget revenues are projected at UZS 515.8 trillion, while expenditures are set at UZS 567.6 trillion, with the budget deficit not expected to exceed 3 percent of gross domestic product.

During the discussions, senators focused on increasing budget revenues, ensuring the targeted and efficient use of funds, and consistently implementing the established macroeconomic objectives. They also highlighted the need to address social issues, develop neighborhood infrastructure, and ensure the timely and high-quality implementation of key measures outlined in state programs.

At the conclusion of the debates, senators approved the law "On the state budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2026".
