Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviews major transport infrastructure in New Tashkent

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed major infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity between Tashkent and New Tashkent.

As part of his inspection of ongoing development works in New Tashkent, the president examined the construction of a new bridge across the Chirchik River, as well as a large parking facility integrated with a metro station.

The projects are designed to improve transport links between Tashkent and New Tashkent, optimize traffic flows, and create a more convenient and sustainable urban environment.

According to officials, the new bridge will provide direct connectivity between the capital and New Tashkent, with a projected capacity of 40–50 thousand vehicles per day. Construction under the first phase of the project began at the end of this year.

Environmental considerations play a key role in the project. Plans include landscaping of riverbanks, installation of energy-efficient lighting, and the development of pedestrian and bicycle paths. A two-lane tram line is also set to run across the bridge.

The planned metro line will span 21 kilometers and include nine modern stations. It is expected to serve up to 230 thousand passengers per day and will be fully integrated into the existing network of the Tashkent Metro, forming a unified transport system.

The president also reviewed progress at one of the stations that will be combined with a 20,000-square-meter parking facility. The design provides for a clear separation of vehicle, pedestrian, and public transport flows, with safety and functionality as top priorities.

Earthworks and concrete construction are currently under way at the site. The complex is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027.

President Mirziyoyev instructed officials to ensure high construction quality and timely completion of the projects.
