Uzbekistan moves to raise gas production and maximize naphtha processing value
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the future tasks and plans of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, instructing the company to raise daily natural gas production from 66 million cubic meters to 70 million cubic meters and to ensure the extraction of at least 25.4 billion cubic meters of gas this year.

To expand gas reserves, the formation of new promising investment blocks was outlined as a priority. In addition, it was noted that work must be accelerated and efficiency improved in certain fields already allocated to investors.
It was reported that naphtha production is currently operating at 70 percent of capacity, while the product is being exported at prices 50 percent lower than its potential value. Taking into account that processing naphtha into polymer products would make it possible to increase added value sixfold, the president instructed officials to take measures to ensure the full utilization of existing capacities.
During the meeting, special attention was given to combating theft and corruption in the oil and gas sector.
To prevent corruption risks in the sector, a separate deputy chairperson position was introduced within the structure of Uzbekneftegaz, and an internal compliance and anti-corruption control service was established. The task was set to create an effective system for the prompt detection and prevention of any illegal activities within the company.
The president also issued relevant instructions to responsible officials on deepening transformation in the oil and gas sector, increasing gas reserves and production volumes, and strengthening financial discipline.
