Uzbekistan’s tourism exports hit $4.8 billion amid surge in visitor numbers
Uzbekistan’s tourism sector continued its rapid expansion in 2025, with visitor numbers surpassing 11 million and exports of tourism services reaching $4.8 billion.
The figures were presented during a briefing on the results of international cultural events, key priorities for further development of the tourism industry, and plans to establish large-scale cultural and tourism facilities across the country.
Officials noted that Uzbekistan has significantly eased entry requirements in recent years, with citizens of 94 countries now eligible for visa-free travel.

At the same time, the presentation underscored the need to shift the tourism sector to a project-based management model, introduce a unified system for creating and developing tourism products, and strengthen coordination in organizing major events.
Digital transformation featured prominently in the discussions. Authorities were tasked with launching a National Tourism Platform that would integrate public and private information systems, rolling out proactive digital services for tourists and businesses, expanding cashless payment options, and improving data analytics on tourist flows. It is expected that deeper digitalization will help curb the shadow economy and increase annual revenues from the tourist levy.

The importance of a revamped international marketing strategy was also emphasized. Under the new approach, promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential will focus on priority markets, including the United States, the Persian Gulf countries, India, China, and Scandinavia. Measures include expanding the country’s presence on global tourism platforms, developing high-quality digital content, and engaging major international media outlets and key opinion leaders to boost visibility.
