Avalanche risk declared in Uzbekistan’s mountainous regions
Uzhydromet has issued an avalanche risk warning for several mountainous regions of the country due to expected precipitation and fluctuations in air temperatures.

According to the agency, the risk period is forecast for January 21–26, 2026, when changing weather conditions may increase the likelihood of snow avalanches in high-altitude areas. Residents of mountainous districts, tourists, and drivers traveling on mountain roads are urged to exercise heightened caution.
The avalanche risk has been announced in the following areas:
- Kashkadarya region: Dehqonobod, Kitob, Qamashi, and Shahrisabz districts
- Surkhandarya region: Boysun, Qumqorgon, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts
- Samarkand region: Nurobod, Qoshrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts
- Jizzakh region: Bakhmal and Zomin districts
- Tashkent region: Bostanlyk, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts, including the Chatkal mountain range
- Namangan region: Pop district
Authorities have called on local residents, visitors, and motorists using these routes to strictly observe safety measures, avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk zones, and follow official guidance throughout the warning period.
