The meeting took place on the sidelines of the president’s working visit to Davos, where he held talks with Adebayo Ogunlesi, a member of BlackRock’s board of directors and senior managing director. Discussions focused on priority areas of investment cooperation and the implementation of agreements previously reached between the two sides.
The parties also exchanged views on BlackRock’s potential participation in priority projects in Uzbekistan. During the talks, the company put forward several initiatives, including acquiring stakes in a number of Uzbek enterprises, developing joint investment mechanisms, and engaging international expertise to enhance the country’s overall investment climate. President Mirziyoyev expressed support for these proposals.
BlackRock is one of the world’s largest investment companies, specializing in asset and fund management as well as financial services. The company manages assets exceeding $11 trillion.
The meeting in Davos followed earlier high-level talks between President Mirziyoyev and Adebayo Ogunlesi held during the Uzbek leader’s visit to New York in September 2025. At that time, the two sides discussed expanding a strategic partnership with BlackRock, with a particular focus on developing energy, transport, and water infrastructure.
Plans to establish a joint fund were endorsed, and it was announced that a platform concept would be agreed in the near term, paving the way for the launch of joint projects.
