Uzhydromet warns of avalanche risk in six regions of Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan’s national hydrometeorological service, Uzhydromet, has issued an avalanche warning for mountainous and foothill areas in six regions of the country due to falling temperatures and expected precipitation.

According to the agency, weather conditions may trigger avalanches between January 31 and February 1–3, posing risks in several mountainous districts across the republic.

• In Kashkadarya region, avalanche hazards are forecast in the districts of Dehkonobod, Kitob, Kamashi, and Shahrisabz.

• In Surkhandarya region, the warning applies to Boysun, Kumkorgon, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts.

• In Samarkand region, potentially dangerous conditions are expected in Nurobod, Koshrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts.

• In Jizzakh region, Bakhmal and Zomin districts are included in the alert.

• In Tashkent region, the risk affects Bostanlyk, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts.

• In Namangan region, Pop district has also been placed under the avalanche warning.

Uzhydromet urged residents of mountainous and foothill areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through mountain routes to exercise caution and take necessary safety measures during the warning period.
