Tashkent and Islamabad discuss defense and security cooperation
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Commander of the Ground Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Islamabad on February 5, as part of his state visit to Pakistan.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of Global Industrial and Defense Solutions and focused on key aspects of further developing multifaceted cooperation and the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The sides discussed expanding cooperation in the military and military-technical fields, with particular attention paid to coordinating efforts to counter current security threats. The importance of intensifying cooperation between leading defense industry enterprises of the two countries was emphasized.



The talks also highlighted the need to expand programs for training military specialists, enhance the exchange of expertise, and organize joint exercises and training activities.
In addition, the parties reviewed prospects for accelerating the implementation of promising infrastructure projects in the transport and logistics sector.
Following the discussions, an agreement was reached to develop a separate roadmap aimed at advancing military and military-technical cooperation.
