According to the Ministry of Energy, as of 12:30 on February 13, total renewable generation from solar and wind power plants amounted to 1bn kWh. Solar photovoltaic stations produced 396m kWh, while wind power plants generated 604m kWh.

The country currently operates 15 solar and five wind power plants with a combined installed capacity of 5,582 MW.

Compared with the same period in 2025, green electricity generation increased by two thirds, or 400m kWh.

The rapid growth reflects the continued expansion of renewable energy infrastructure across Uzbekistan. The ministry noted that the first 1bn kWh of 2026 was produced within 44 days – significantly faster than in previous years.

Thanks to renewable energy sources, Uzbekistan saved 267m cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the release of 575,000 tons of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

When hydropower plants are included, total electricity generation from renewable sources reached 1.57bn kWh as of 12:30 on February 13. This broader output resulted in savings of 400m cubic meters of natural gas and the prevention of more than 863,000 tons of harmful emissions.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the current volume of green electricity generation is sufficient to fully cover the annual consumption of 625,000 households.

For comparison, in 2022 the first photovoltaic power plants in the Navoi and Samarkand regions generated 434m kWh. Electricity output rose to 576.9m kWh in 2023 and then surged to 4.86bn kWh in 2024.

In 2025, total electricity production from all solar and wind power plants reached 10.5bn kWh – a 2.1-fold increase compared with the previous year.
