President Mirziyoyev chairs meeting on strengthening Uzbekistan’s defense capabilities

On March 3, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, presided over a high-level meeting dedicated to the development and modernization of the nation’s military. The session focused on enhancing combat readiness and integrating advanced technologies into the country's security framework.

According to the presidential press service, the meeting addressed the progress of priority tasks established during the Security Council session on January 13. Discussions centered on strengthening the country’s defense potential and ensuring national security against a backdrop of global volatility.

During the session, officials emphasized that in an era of international instability, where regional military conflicts are causing severe humanitarian and economic disruptions, the fortification of national defense remains a paramount priority.

The Minister of Defense presented a comprehensive report on several key areas, including:

  • The current state of combat readiness across various military branches.
  • The operational preparation of units and subdivisions.
  • Progress in equipping the Armed Forces with modern weaponry and hardware.
  • The ongoing development of infrastructure within military-administrative sectors.

A central theme of the meeting was the necessity of adopting cutting-edge approaches from developed nations. President Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of incorporating modern military command systems and training methodologies.

Specifically, the president noted the urgent need for the wide-scale application of new technologies. This includes the integration of unmanned aerial systems (drones) and digital management solutions to significantly boost the efficiency and responsiveness of the troops.

The head of state defined specific objectives for the modernization of military infrastructure to meet contemporary standards. This includes the upgrading of:

  • Military-administrative sectors and training grounds.
  • Educational institutions specializing in defense.
  • Material and technical supply facilities.

Furthermore, President Mirziyoyev issued instructions to continuously refine the system of training military personnel. He called for an increase in scientific research and the expansion of programs focused on the mastery of sophisticated armaments and emerging technologies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief set definitive tasks for the continued development of the Armed Forces, ensuring the protection of Uzbekistan's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
