Uzbekistan opens consulate in Washington State
Akhror Burkhanov has begun his duties as Uzbekistan’s first consul general in Washington, marking the opening of a new diplomatic presence aimed at strengthening ties with the western regions of the United States.
Burkhanov announced the start of his new role through a message shared on social media. In the statement, he noted that over the past three years he had served as press secretary to the foreign minister of Uzbekistan, and that he is now beginning a new stage in his diplomatic career.
Since 2022, Burkhanov worked as press secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, where he was responsible for the ministry’s information policy and public communications.
In his message, the diplomat expressed gratitude to colleagues, mentors, and partners for their cooperation on various initiatives and projects during his time at the ministry. He also noted that the experience gained over the past years provided valuable professional lessons.
Burkhanov is regarded as a specialist who has been actively engaged in foreign policy and international relations.
In his new position, Burkhanov will focus on protecting the interests of Uzbek citizens in Washington State and promoting economic and cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and regional partners in the United States.
