President Mirziyoyev inaugurates $7 billion investment projects in Samarkand region

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony on March 18 in Samarkand region to inaugurate and begin construction on major investment projects valued at nearly $7 billion.

As part of the event, an exhibition was organized featuring products from key sectors, including food production, light industry, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, construction materials, as well as metal and furniture manufacturing.

The president reviewed the region’s modern production capacities, advanced equipment and technologies, and a range of industrial goods. Officials noted that in recent years, Samarkand region has seen steady industrial growth, supported by an improving business and investment climate that continues to attract both domestic and foreign capital.

During the ceremony, it was announced that 106 projects, worth nearly $7 billion in total investment, are ready for launch or construction across cities and districts in the region. Project leaders joined the event via video link to report on progress.

The initiatives span a wide range of sectors, including mining and geology, construction materials, automotive manufacturing, chemical industry, electrical engineering, agriculture, education, healthcare, services, and tourism. These projects are expected to expand production capacity and support the development of new industrial facilities.

As part of the event, the president symbolically launched a group of projects implemented in cooperation with international partners. In particular, 53 projects worth $2.4 billion were commissioned in partnership with countries such as Austria, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India, and Russia.

In addition, construction began on another 53 projects valued at $4.6 billion, involving partners from the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Russia, and Iran.

The implementation of these projects is expected to create around 18,000 new jobs and generate industrial output worth 13 trillion UZS. The projects are also projected to deliver export potential of approximately $700 million.

Officials noted that these initiatives will play a key role in strengthening the industrial capacity of Samarkand region, modernizing production sectors, and ensuring sustainable economic growth. They are also expected to diversify industry, expand modern production chains, and broaden export geography.
