More beautiful and majestic than ever – A photo report from the newly renovated Imam Bukhari complex
In a momentous occasion for both the people of Uzbekistan and the wider Islamic world, the newly reconstructed Imam Bukhari complex in Samarkand was officially opened on the day of Eid al-Fitr. This grand opening marks the completion of a massive transformation project aimed at honoring the legacy of the great Muhaddith.

Spanning a vast area of 63 hectares, the majestic complex now stands as a symbol of spiritual heritage and modern architectural excellence. The site integrates several significant components designed to accommodate a high volume of pilgrims and visitors:
- A magnificent mosque: The center of the complex features a new mosque capable of holding 10,000 worshippers simultaneously.
- The Mausoleum of Imam Bukhari: The sacred heart of the site, where the tomb of the great scholar has been preserved and beautifully adorned.
- Innovative museum: A modern museum dedicated to the life and scientific contributions of Imam Bukhari, using digital technology to engage visitors.
- Comprehensive infrastructure: The 63-hectare territory includes landscaped gardens, wide walkways, and extensive facilities to ensure a comfortable experience for international tourists.
