Samarkand hosts international forum on combating transnational drug threats
On April 20, the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, participated in the opening ceremony of a high-level international forum in Samarkand. The conference, titled "Countering Transnational Drug Threats to Public Health and Security," serves as a global platform to address the growing challenges of the narcotics trade.
The event has drawn a significant international presence, including representatives from more than 50 countries and over 500 international experts and specialists.

During the opening session, Saida Mirziyoyeva delivered an official address on behalf of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the forum participants. Writing on her social media page, she stated that it was a great honor to convey the president's message to the gathered experts and international partners.
A key highlight of the forum's commencement was the recognition of international leaders for their commitment to the cause. Several heads of international organizations were honored with the specially established "Devoted to Combating Drugs" breastplate, awarded in recognition of their significant contributions to developing global cooperation in this field.

The forum is expected to facilitate deep discussions on modernizing anti-drug strategies and fostering a more integrated approach between law enforcement and public health sectors to mitigate the impact of transnational organized crime.
