President Mirziyoyev calls for deepening cooperation with ICESCO
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has stressed the importance of expanding Uzbekistan's multifaceted partnership with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) during a meeting with the organization's Director-General, Salim Al Malik.
The ICESCO official arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the First International Forum on Islamic Civilization.

According to the presidential press service, the talks focused on broadening cooperation between Uzbekistan and ICESCO, with both sides noting the steady development of practical collaboration in recent years.

An ICESCO chair is currently operating at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, while the organization's office opened in Tashkent earlier this year. In February, seven of Uzbekistan's tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites were added to the ICESCO Heritage List following a meeting of the organization's Heritage Committee.

During the meeting, particular attention was given to joint projects aimed at restoring, preserving and digitizing cultural monuments and manuscripts, as well as promoting Uzbekistan's rich historical heritage through international media platforms. The parties also discussed organizing additional joint events.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev awarded Salim Al Malik the Dustlik Order in recognition of his personal contribution to promoting Uzbekistan's rich cultural heritage.
