The joint meeting of the “Uzbekistan–Turkey” and “Turkey–Uzbekistan” interparliamentary cooperation groups was held at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis on August 13.
The participants stressed the role of political will and mutual trust between the two countries’ leaders in elevating bilateral relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.
They also noted the steady expansion of parliamentary dialogue and reciprocal visits in recent years. Particular attention was given to implementing the 2026–2027 parliamentary cooperation roadmap signed in April by the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
The sides exchanged views on organizing joint events and visits, sharing experience in lawmaking and parliamentary oversight, and supporting each other’s initiatives within international parliamentary organizations.
The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen trade, economic and investment ties, including legislative support for industrial cooperation projects. Other priorities included transport and transit links, education, tourism, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and stronger ties between regions of the two countries.
The parties agreed to strengthen parliamentary oversight of agreements reached at the highest level and organize a visit by the leadership of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to Uzbekistan.
They also agreed to facilitate the participation of young Turkish parliamentarians in the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be held in Samarkand.
