The Central Bank’s latest exchange rates, which take effect on August 20, put the dollar at UZS 11,794.88 – down UZS 25.52 from the previous rate.
The official dollar rate had last fallen below the UZS 11,800 threshold three years ago.
The US currency has weakened by more than UZS 153 against the soum over the past five days and is down UZS 230.45 since the beginning of the year.
Commercial banks are currently buying dollars at UZS 11,735–11,820 and selling them at UZS 11,840–11,875.
