Tashkent plans to expand its bus fleet with 1,000 new buses in 2025
In 2025, Tashkent plans to bring in 1,000 new buses and install 675 information kiosks for purchasing public transport tickets, according to the Minister of Transport, Ilhom Mahkamov.
“A draft law for the further development of public transport in Tashkent will be prepared by February 1, along with the adoption of a dedicated program,” Mahkamov stated.
Currently, the total number of information kiosks stands at 5,100, of which only 769 are installed at bus stops. Between January 1 and 10, daily passenger traffic on buses increased by 43.5%, from 871,000 to 1.19 million passengers, while revenues grew by 36%, from 8.5 billion to 11.5 billion UZS.
Previously, Kun.uz reported that Uzbekistan’s transport system may undergo significant changes in 2025.
As part of a state program, work will begin on the feasibility study for the construction of a tram line.
