According to the list of cases scheduled for hearings, Nasimjonov is charged under Article 167, Part 3(a), of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code for embezzlement or misappropriation, and Article 205, Part 2(a), concerning abuse of power or official authority.
Nasimjonov headed the Tashkent city tax department from 2021 to 2026. At a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on January 27, 2026, officials were instructed to remove him from his post and review his activities to ensure compliance with the law.
Nasimjonov was subsequently replaced as head of the department by Jahongir Mirpolatov, who was appointed acting head in February.
A separate case is being heard against Alisher Ganiyev, deputy head of the city department of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Ganiyev is facing charges under Article 205, Part 2(a), for abuse of power or official authority, as well as Article 223, Part 2, concerning illegal departure from or entry into Uzbekistan. The charges also include the relevant aggravating circumstances specified in the Criminal Code.
