Well-known scholar of the Islamic world Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani visits Uzbekistan

On April 14, 2019, well-known scholar of the Islamic world, Shaikh-ul-Islam, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani visited Uzbekistan. Shaikh-ul-Islam went straight to Bukhara after completing his visit to Moscow, Islom.uz reported.

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was welcomed with respect at Bukhara airport. Then the dear guest toured the old part of Bukhara on a rickshaw. He visited ancient madrasahs and mosques and performed the evening prayer at Masjid-i Kalan.

His companion Muhammad ibn Adam, Student, Teacher & Author of Islamic Sciences, Advisor on Islamic Law & Finance, Director of Darul Iftaa Institute, posted on his Twitter page that the “love & respect shown towards him by the local ulama & tullab is unreal!”

For information, Muhammad Taqi Usmani, born on 5 October 1943 in Deoband, a city in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India, is a Sunni Hanafi Maturidi Islamic scholar. He served as a judge on the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan from 1981 to 1982 and the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan between 1982 and 2002. He is an expert in the fields of Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh), economics, Tasawwuf, and hadith. He also held a number of positions on the Shariah Boards of prestigious Islamic institutions, and was instrumental in the writing of the Hudood Ordinances under General Zia ul-Haq. He has written translations of the Qur'an in both English and Urdu. He was given the title of Shaikh-ul-Islam by his teacher Mawlana Sahban Mahmood.
