Uzbekistan to cut off red tape in employment

A bill that abolishes the requirement for identity documents, work books and accumulative pension books upon hiring was adopted in the first reading.

At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the draft law “On Amendments and Supplements to the Labor Code” was conceptually adopted in the first reading.

The bill reduces the list of required documents during employment. In particular, by creating the possibility of using information systems, the requirement for identity documents, work books and accumulative pension books from government organizations and business associations is abolished.

Also, in the draft, Article 11 of the Labor Code is supplemented with the words “The application of labor legislation to labor relations of civil servants is applied in the part not regulated by the Law “On Civil Service”.

“As a result of the adoption of the bill, legislative documents ensuring the guaranteed labor rights of citizens will be improved. The Labor Code will also be ensured to comply with the newly adopted laws and regulations,” the deputies emphasized.

It is also noted that this document is aimed at reducing cases of illegal refusal to hire, eliminating bureaucratic barriers and preventing corruption.
