The measures were announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting on the socio-economic development of Andijan region.
Under the planned support package, farmers selling cotton through the commodity exchange and the clusters purchasing it will receive subsidies of UZS 500,000 per ton. Farmers growing cotton on their own land will be eligible for a payment of UZS 1.5 million per hectare.
The government will also develop proposals to return 3% of the value of goods sold through marketplaces to exporters as a cashback payment.
Mirziyoyev has additionally instructed officials to submit calculations for a three-year program to subsidize loans taken by textile exporters. The program would cover part of the interest payments exceeding 14% on loans in Uzbek soums and 5% on foreign-currency loans.
The measures are intended to support cotton producers, textile clusters and processing companies as the industry faces weaker global demand for cotton and higher logistics costs.
