On February 19, 2019 at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore, the opening ceremony of the Uzbek-Singapore Center for Tourism Development was held, MFA reports.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Singapore to Uzbekistan Zulkifli Bakharudin, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Committee on Foreign Trade, the National University, the National Association of Travel Agencies, representatives of academic, cultural, humanitarian, business circles, the media of Singapore, and National airline Uzbekistan Airways.

Opening the ceremony, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Singapore, Kakhramon Shakirov, informed that Singapore was among the first 7 countries, for citizens of which, a visa-free regime was introduced by a presidential decree in 2018. This created favorable conditions for the work of travel companies. As a result, in 2018, 1842 Singaporean citizens visited our country, which is 3 times more than the previous year.

Ambassador Zulkifli Bakharudin (with residence in Singapore) stressed that Uzbekistan has significant tourism potential and is an unexplored market for both tourists and businessmen of Singapore. In his opinion, the establishment of such a Tourism Center will provide additional opportunities for obtaining reliable and complete information about the tourist attractiveness of the country.

Fazal Bakhardin, the founder and executive director of the Crescent Rating agency, said: “I visited Uzbekistan last October and I am confident that the republic has great potential for the development of the tourism industry, especially for Muslim travelers, due to the presence of many monuments of Islamic civilization and attractive ancient cities such as Samarkand and Bukhara”.

Head of S.E.A. Business Center Pte. Ltd and Uzbek-Singapore Center for Tourism Development, Rudi Fang, during his presentation, noted that his main goal is to promote the tourism brand of Uzbekistan not only in Singapore, but also in South-East Asia and to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan.
