Uzbekistan's new ambassador presents credentials to President of Singapore
The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, Alisher Kayumov, presented his credentials to the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, today.
An honorary guard was assembled for the Uzbek Ambassador at the government residence "Istana".
During a conversation with the President of Singapore, the current state and prospects for the development of multifaceted Uzbek-Singaporean cooperation were discussed, which gained particular momentum following reciprocal high-level visits in 2023.
The President of Singapore highly valued the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, noting that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the country has achieved significant success in building a strong civil society, conducting an open and balanced foreign policy, and ensuring steady economic growth.
The growing appeal of Uzbekistan for international business, including Singaporean business, was emphasized, as evidenced by the participation of a delegation from the Parliament of Singapore, led by the Speaker and comprising representatives from over 25 Singaporean companies, in the upcoming Tashkent International Investment Forum.
At the end of the conversation, the President of Singapore expressed his readiness to support efforts to strengthen and develop bilateral relations and conveyed his best wishes to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan.
For reference: Alisher Kayumov arrived in Singapore in mid-March. He replaced Kahramon Shakirov, who served as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Singapore (2018–2024) and concurrently in Australia (2022–2024), based in Singapore.
