In Tashkent, the Yashnabad district court on criminal proceedings sentenced the former driver of the Prosecutor General’s Office, who hit to death an employee of Westminster University by a service car.
As Kun.uz source at the district court reported, on April 15, the Yashnabad district criminal court concluded the trial against a 31-year-old ex-driver of the Prosecutor General’s Office, on the fact of the incident with a 58-year-old employee of Westminster University.
According to the court verdict, the former driver of the supervising body was found guilty of violating traffic safety rules. The court sentenced him to 4 years of imprisonment with deprivation of driving license for 2 years.
However, the court decided not to execute the punishment imposed, if there are no grounds for annulment of the suspended sentence during the two-year probationary period.
It should be recalled that in January 2019, the driver of an official car of one of the departments of the General Prosecutor's Office hit a pedestrian to death. On January 24, a Lacetti car driver at the intersection of Shakhrisabz and Tarakkiyot streets of the Yashnabad district did not slow down near a pedestrian crossing and hit a man. The pedestrian was an employee of the University of Westminster (born in 1960). On January 29, he died in hospital as a result of serious injuries sustained.
On the same day, January 24, on the above fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 266 (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation, resulting in death of a person) of the Criminal Code.
