Number of streets in Tashkent set to temporarily close for traffic
On September 9, 2018, the Youth Union of Uzbekistan is to organize an "Independence Marathon" in connection with the 27th anniversary of State Independence.
According to the Tashkent city Department of Internal Affairs, the marathon, which starts in Glinka street of the Yakkasaroy district, goes through Nukus, A. Kadiriy, Abay, Olmazor, I. Karimov streets and completes at “Pakhtakor” stadium.
In order to ensure the safety of the participants during the marathon, the following streets will be closed for traffic on 9 September from 9:00 to 13:00:
Glinka Street - from Shota Rustaveli Street to Nukus Street;
Nukus Street - from A. Kahhar Street to A. Kadiriy Street;
Kadiriy Street - from Nukus Street to Abai Street;
Abai Street - from A. Kadiriy Street to Olmazor Street;
Olmazor Street - from Abai Street to Islam Karimov Street;
Islam Karimov Street - from Olmazor Street to Sharof Rashidov Street
“Dear drivers! We apologize for the temporary inconvenience, asking you to avoid the above-mentioned streets during the marathon,” reads the Department of Internal Affairs’ message.
