Yunusabad district khokim arrested for bribery
Khokim (mayor) of Yunusabad district Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov is arrested, reports Kun.uz correspondent.
He was detained while taking $ 400,000 as a bribe from an investor.
It is noted that the raid, which resulted in imprisonment of the khokim (mayor), was carried out by the operational staff of the State Security Service. The khokim (mayor) of Yunusabad district promised the investor land in exchange for the money.
The source says several people were charged with the same act of crime and were arrested following the raid.
Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov, born in 1976, graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (1996) and Tashkent State University of Economics (2003).
Throughout his career, he worked as Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade and Chairman of the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On April 11, 2017, at a videoconference meeting chaired by the President himself, he was administered a rebuke and his rank was reduced as low as the khokim (mayor) of the district.
