Uzbekistan, India inked 20 documents

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi continued negotiations in an extended format.

The sides discussed new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, high technologies, medicine, pharmaceuticals, tourism and other fields and signed 20 documents concerning the above-mentioned areas.

Following the meeting, a joint statement of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi was adopted.

Furthermore, the parties reached agreements on the establishment of cooperation between Andijan region and Gujarat state, and between the cities of Samarkand and Agra. Besides, they decided to create a free pharmaceutical zone in close cooperation. 

At a briefing for media representatives, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbekistan sees enhancing bilateral relations with India as a top priority task. The talks in a constructive spirit confirmed mutual interest in developing two-sided contacts.

It is reported that the parties agreed to bring the trade turnover between the two countries to $ 1 billion.
