Within the framework of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to the French Republic on Oct. 8-9, an agreement was signed with the leadership of Viola Group on modernizing the drinking water and wastewater systems in Tashkent.

In accordance with the agreement, the French company, in cooperation with the Uzbek government, will prepare a detailed plan for improving the water system of the Uzbek capital by 2019.

Veolia will be responsible for the management of drinking water and wastewater services in Tashkent for the next 25 years. The contract is to take effect in the first half of the coming year.

“We are delighted that the Uzbek side sees us as a reliable partner in developing access to quality water for the people of Uzbekistan,” Antoine Frérot, Chairman and CEO of Veolia, said.

Veolia is a French transnational company with activities in four main service and utility areas traditionally managed by public authorities – water management, waste management, transport and energy services.
