Uzbekistan to introduce innovative technologies in the forestry sector

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution of "On measures for further development of the forestry sector and implementation of innovative technologies in the Republic of Uzbekistan".

The document gives right for both the State Committee for Forestry and the Ministry of Innovation Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the below two establishments:

1. Innovative Forestry Development Center at the State Forestry Research Institute;

2. The state unitary enterprise "Urmoninvest" at the State Committee for Forestry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main tasks and activities of the Innovation Center are as follows:

- Development and implementation of innovative technologies for the forest management, forestry expansion, their protection and rational utilization of forest resources, depending on the soil-climatic conditions of the territory of the Republic;

- Construction of plantations of ornamental, fruitful and medicinal plants and development of innovative ways of seedling houses;

- Introducing new plant species and conducting researches on their adaptation to local soil and climatic conditions and implementation of specific proposals on their establishment;

- Introduction of scientific researches on the creation of scientifically-based innovative technologies for the cultivation of saline and drought resistant plants on the lands of the forestry;

- Organization of systematic introduction of research results into practice;

- Developing proposals to support and implement new innovative ideas;

- Implementation of scientific researches on introducing forest plantations resistant to adverse climatic conditions, pests and diseases;
- Studying the experience of developed countries, including the involvement of foreign experts and scientists for joint research;
- Increasing the capacity of researchers working in the field, organizing their regular internships abroad and attracting talented youth;
- Organization of international scientific and training seminars and conferences.

The main tasks and activities of "Urmoninvest":

- Attraction of foreign and domestic investors to improve the quality of production (products, services) in forestry enterprises and increase the potential of export;

- Increasing the image of productions and creating a brand of services and ensuring their competitiveness on the world market;

- Development, implementation and management of projects on the efficient use of forest resources;

- Attraction of investors for the development of ecotourism, hunting tourism and forestry recreational zones for the creation of comfortable conditions for tourists;

- Organization of joint ventures, trading houses, advertising agencies, including the production abroad;

- Applying modern corporate governance methods for the structured joint ventures to produce highly liquid and competitive products and services;

- Conducting marketing research and studying the consumer market for the sale of goods and services provided, including export strategy;

- Monitoring of internal system prices for products goods and services and preparation of proposals on their competitiveness;
- Preparation of presentations and concepts, organization of meetings with potential investors, attracting investments from international funds and banks, holding negotiations on granting loans and grants to support projects.
