14,195 Uzbek citizens emigrated to foreign countries for permanent residence
In January-September 2018, the number of arrivals in Uzbekistan for permanent residence from abroad was 1,961 people, while the number of those who departed to foreign countries for the same purpose was 14,195, the State Statistics Committee said.
Out of total 1,961 people moving to Uzbekistan, Kazakh citizens made up the largest share – 31 percent, closely followed by Tajiks (28.3 percent) and Russians (25.3 percent).
In the first 9 months of 2018, 48.1 percent Uzbeks emigrated to Kazakhstan, 46 percent to Russia, 1.3 percent to USA and 0.7 percent to Israel for permanent residence.
Internal migration was recorded as 119.8 thousand people, with the highest migration balance falling on Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
