Man finds “Luger” pistol in his basement in Tashkent
A pensioner in Tashkent found a German “Luger” pistol in his basement while refurbishing his house, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“81-year-old M.U. addressed the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent city to inform that he has found a German-made pistol in his basement while renovating the house. According to him the firearm, which was produced at the beginning of the last century, belonged to his father, who died in 1979. The pensioner handed over the finding to police officers,” MDIA’s representative said.
It should be noted that in compliance with Article 248 (illegal possession of weapons, military supplies, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan citizens may be charged with a fine in the amount of 50 times the minimum wage or may be even imprisoned for five years for illegal possession of firearms.
At the same time, a person who voluntarily surrenders his weapon to the internal affairs bodies is exempted from criminal liability.
