Ministry of Health conducts a survey among patients to tackle corruption
Due to shortcomings in perinatal health care over the past few years, 31 personnel have been fired from their posts in Uzbekistan, Health Minister Alisher Shadmanov said.
There are 210 maternity hospitals in Uzbekistan which are specialized in providing gradual perinatal care for pregnant women. In recent years, they have been working on the formation of intolerance towards corruption.
"There are 2635 obstetrician-gynecologist in all maternity establishments in the country. In the last 9 months of this year, there were 507131 birth records. This shows how much complicated their job is" noted the Health Minister.
Groups have been organized on the basis of the decree of the Minister of Health in order to conduct a survey among patients in obstetric complexes which aims to prevent fraud and bribery at medical institutions. They are studying the activity of the maternity hospital in Tashkent, the Republican Scientific Practical Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Republican Perinatal Center, the 2nd clinical maternity department of Tashkent Medical Academy and the gynecology unit of the 3rd Clinic.
Monitoring goes on until October 27, 2018.
