Constructors demand for money

For the past ten months, the construction company cannot receive money from the customer for the repair works carried out at “Oksaroy” complex, which is now turned into a museum in memory of the first president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, centralasian.org reports.

According to an engineer of the construction company who asked not to disclose his name for security purposes, the customer has extended the payment for ten months. Despite the fact that they have completed the renovation works at Islam Karimov Museum in time and spent on the purchase of building materials, they have still not been paid.

An official of the museum of Islam Karimov said that the construction company spent around 4 billion sums (more than $486,000) for the construction of the museum.

“The main part of this amount has already been paid. The rest will be paid by the end of November. In most cases, construction companies begin to work without issuing an estimate for construction works or signing a contract. Therefore, such misunderstandings occur. We hope that this issue will be resolved in the next few days,” the official explained.

According to the local media, total amount of debt to be paid to the construction company owned by entrepreneur Kakhramon Ibrahimov, is about 156 million sums (about $19,000). In addition, it became known that the sculptor Ilkhom Jabbarov, the author of the monument to Islam Karimov, was also not paid for the work.
