Jizzakh Automobile Plant will not be commissioned in 2019
Uzbekistan is not planning to launch the Jizzakh Automobile Plant next year, Kun.uz correspondent reports with reference to the Investment Program of Uzbekistan for 2019.
The project was not included in the Investment Program for the coming year, but rather moved to the list of promising projects to be worked out in 2019.
“Nevertheless, the French company PSA Groupe remains in the project and works with Uzavtosanoat,” the deputy chairman of the development and marketing company Umidjon Salimov said during the opening ceremony of the first multi-brand salon in Uzbekistan.
According to him, the parties are now preparing a new concept and after its completion a new commissioning date will be announced.
Currently, construction and installation works are being completed at the site. Relevant contracts have already been concluded for the supply of technological and engineering equipment.
The company officials have only shared their plans on the manufacturing of two- and three-wheeled motorcycles in Naryn district with a production capacity of 10 thousand units. Its total cost is $1.5 million. In 2019, it is planned to manufacture 3 thousand motorcycles.
At the same time, the long-term plans of Uzavtosanoat are to carry out modernization works by 2022 and replace outdated equipment at the country’s automobile enterprises with a total value of $ 50 million.
Earlier, it was stated that the Uzbek-French automobile plant “Uzbekistan Peugeot Citroen Automotive” would manufacture its first products in early December 2018. Then, Uzavtosanoat and the French PSA Groupe announced a revision of the project to build a car factory in Jizzakh region “due to some unforeseen changes to the original plans.”
The plant intended to create 600 new jobs, and the annual production was to exceed 170 million euros. At the same time, about 50% of the production was scheduled for export to Russia and other CIS countries, as well as Iran and France.
