Three snowboarders died at Beldersay ski resort
On December 24, at around 16:00, three young people (born in 1994, 1999 and 1999) on snowboards set out to the life-threatening zone at Beldersay ski resort. As a result of their movement along the snow covering the danger zone, an avalanche crept down. It led to their death under a snow blockage, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
According to the information obtained, the eyewitnesses saw three young people climbing the cable car at about 16:00. Rescuers dug out the frozen bodies from under the snow at around 21:00.
“There were no avalanches. They headed to the forbidden zone and slid off while descending on snowboards and collapsed into a snowdrift,” the source noted.
Currently, an investigation is underway. The cause of snowboarders’ death is being studied.
