Uzbekistan establishes excise tax on imported confectionery products
Effective from January 1, 2019 imported confectionery products into the country will be subject to an excise tax. This is stated in the presidential decree "On the forecast of main macroeconomic indicators of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019 and parameters of the State budget and budget targets for 2020-2021".
According to the resolution, from 2019 onwards the excise tax on imported chocolate and caramel products will be 10% and for other confectionery products - 20%.
Previously, there was no excise tax on imported confectionery products.
