The collection, according to the director of the center Shoazim Minovarov, consists of 4,923 rare books in Latin, English, French and German, published from the 13th century on the influence of Orientalism and the Islamic world on Europe.
“Among them is the first Latin translation of Avicenna’s (Ibn Sina’s) Canon of Medicine,” he stressed.
It should be noted that the project of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, which is being built at the expense of Alisher Usmanov, is being developed by the French company Wilmotte & Associés.
It is planned that the complex will be built in accordance with international standards and will include a library, information and resource center, scientific departments, a conference room, office space and other facilities. The symbolic cornerstone in its foundation was laid in June 2018 by the President of Uzbekistan.
