Uzbekistan reveals tertiary education statistics
The number of educational institutions in Uzbekistan, as of the beginning of 2018/2019 academic year, was 9774 units, of which 6044 units (62%) are in rural areas and 3730 (38%) are in urban areas, the State Statistics Committee noted.
It should be noted that compared with the corresponding period of 2017, the number of educational institutions in the republic increased by 0.6% and reached the mark of 56%.
Since the beginning of 2018/2019 academic year, 360.2 thousand students are receiving education in higher educational institutions, of which 159.4 thousand are girls.
22.1% students are studying on a state grant basis and 77.9% on a paid contract basis.
