Small tourist zones to be established in Urgench and Khiva cities
According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated Feb 13, 2019, measures for development of tourism in Khorezm region for 2019-2020 have been approved.
Norma noted that a small tourist zone (hereinafter - STZ) “Shovot” will be built along the canal Shovot in Urgench and the STZ “Govuk kul” will be built in Khiva. There will be modern hotel complexes, other cultural and recreational, trade-entertainment facilities. Within 2 months, the net boundaries of the STZ will be determined.
In accordance with the presidential decree PD-3356 dated Oct 25, 2017, the EIZ and KSZ Administrative Council of Khorezm region will provide land plots for investors in the tourist zones.
For timely and qualitative implementation and development of the STZ, a working group with participation of the Deputy Prime Minister, Khorezm region, Urgench and Khiva city khokims, as well as deputy heads of construction, water management and other deputy ministers has been approved.
The regional administration together with the State Committee for Tourism Development will form a list of additional investment projects for development of tourism in the Khorezm region within two months and submit for approval.
As a reference to the document, a complex of measures for development of tourism in the Khorezm region for 2019-2020 has been presented. It consists of the followings:
• Gradual transition of local residents living in the territory of “Ichan-Kala” complex to new multistory houses constructed around Khiva. This measure will help preserve the status of a “live museum-city” and universal importance of the historical complex, create conditions for improving living standards of the population, as well as engaging in family craftsmanship and ancient professions;
• Establishing local (Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana and Namangan) and international flights from Urgench to Frankfurt, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Volgograd, Delhi, Fújiàn;
• Accommodation of various recreational facilities and points of sale in the buildings constructed on the street from the railway station of Khiva until the complex “Ichan-Kala” in accordance with the historical-cultural environment of the region.
The document came into force on February 13, 2019.
