Alice Wells: New era of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and US has begun
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Ambassador Alice Wells believes that there is a growth in relations between Uzbekistan and the United States.
“I want to first of all note that a new era has begun in the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States. I brought with me a personal message from Secretary of State Michael Pompeo addressed to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which refers to the huge reforms being carried out in your country, as well as to the fact that the United States remains committed to these reforms and changes in Uzbekistan,” UzA quoted Alice Wells as saying.
“During the visit, we also held another round of bilateral political consultations between the United States and Uzbekistan. Given the scale and depth of the discussions in these consultations, it can be said that growth in economic, security, political and humanitarian relations between our countries is noticeable,” she added.
The day before, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Alice Wells, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the next round of Uzbek-American political consultations.
The parties discussed the expansion of trade, economic and investment-technology cooperation with leading companies and US banks. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and the active involvement of IRA in regional trade and economic cooperation.
