Violation of copyright may be brought to criminal liability – Vokhidjon Allayorov

Breach of intellectual property rights can be a ground for bringing to administrative liability, gross and serious violations – criminal liability, Deputy Director of the Training Center at the Agency for Intellectual Property Vokhidjon Allayorov said, the press service of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications reports. 

It was noted that today there are many offenses in the process of publishing works of Uzbek and foreign authors.

“For example, there are cases when university students are given certain literature and are instructed to translate it into Uzbek. Students give the received text for translation, pay for the work of an interpreter, and then publish it as their own,” Allayorov said.

Thus, the violation of intellectual property rights can be a ground for bringing to administrative, gross and serious violations may result in criminal liabilities.

The necessity of strict observance on the rights to translate and publish the works of world literature was also noted. It is necessary to coordinate these issues with the author if he is alive (or at least 50 years should pass since his death).
