Tashkent to host Junior World Weightlifting Championships in 2021
During the World Junior Weightlifting Championships, which is taking place in Las Vegas these days, a number of events are being held under the auspices of the International Weightlifting Federation, the NOC reports.
At the meeting of the executive committee of the organization, various issues were considered and hosts of the future world championships were identified. In 2018, Tashkent organized the World Youth Championship competitions. Now the capital will host the world championship among juniors in 2021. The tournament is scheduled for the month of April.
“These competitions will be of particular importance, as the winners will not only win world championship awards, but also tickets to the next IV Youth Olympic Games. Colleagues from different national federations, in conversations with us, placed particular emphasis on this aspect. Last year, our country successfully held the continental youth championship in Urgench city and the youth world championship took place in Tashkent. We will do our best to justify the confidence of the world weightlifting community. We will also try to prepare an efficient team for successful performance at the home world championship,” first deputy chairman of the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation, member of the executive committee of the IWF Shakhrillo Makhmudov said.
It was also decided to hold the 2021 World Youth Championship in Saudi Arabia.
