Construction of Jizzakh oil refinery stopped
The construction of the Jizzakh oil refinery has been stopped, the deputy director of Neftegazinvest Husniddin Turayev said.
“Construction works have been temporarily halted,” he said.
According to Turayev, restarting of the plant is connected with completion of modernization works at oil refineries in Bukhara and Fergana regions. He commented on the changes in the concept of the project.
“It was decided to modernize oil refineries in Bukhara and Fergana. The Concept for Improving Plant Performance was developed in 2013-14. Currently, negotiations are underway with licensing institutions. We intend to increase the production volume using Euro-5. Then the issues of the Jizzakh oil refinery will be solved,” Turayev noted.
The cost of the project is $2.2 billion and will be commissioned in 2020. It is known that the Jizzakh Petroleum JV was involved in the project.
