51 individuals in the wanted list return voluntarily in Samarkand

Currently, the number of people in the wanted list consists of 332 people for Samarkand region. 82 of them are women and 250 – men. Four individuals were paroled, and 228 – imprisoned. It was reported at a meeting, devoted to the issues of returning the wanted people to their residential areas, with their family members and close relatives. Samarkand regional department of Internal Affairs reports about it.

The meeting with family members and close relatives of the wanted persons was attended by the khokim of Samarkand city Furkat Rakhimov, First Deputy Prosecutor of the Samarkand region Sirojiddin Eshkuvvatov, Deputy Chairman of the Samarkand region court on criminal proceedings Utkir Mamadaliev and deputy head of the Samarkand region department of Internal Affairs Farkhod Khasanov.

According to the press service of the regional department of Internal Affairs, 40 persons of those wanted individuals are members of religious extremist movement. 8 of them are foreigners, 12 – citizens adopted foreign nationals, and 5 – individuals of other provinces who committed crimes and wanted by law enforcement bodies.

At present, 14 individuals in the search list are serving temporary sentences before extradition to foreign countries. According to the Intergovernmental Minsk Convention of January 22, 1993, these 14 wanted persons will be brought to their residential places within the period of six months to one year.

It is noteworthy that after having the meeting with family members and close relatives, 51 people on the wanted list returned voluntarily. Taking into account the fact that the wanted individuals voluntarily addressed to law enforcement bodies, the precautionary measures in the form of “imprisonment” have been changed and mitigating circumstances established by law have been applied.
