First part of the elevated ring metro in Tashkent to be commissioned by September 2019

The JSC Uzbekistan Railways plans to launch the first part of the elevated ring metro by September of this year, uz24.uz reports.

“We plan to introduce the first stage from the “Dustlik” metro station and to the “Kuyluk” market with a length of 11 kilometers by September of this year,” a company representative said at a press conference in Tashkent on March 28.

The total length of the ring metro will exceed 52 kilometers. Average speed will be 60 kilometers.

The project is designed for the years 2017-2021 and consists of five stages. In total, it is planned to build 35 stations. It will be possible to drive the entire line in 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Stages of construction:

-  The first stage: “Dustlik” metro station – “Kuyluk” market;
-  The second stage: “Kuyluk” market – “Almazar” metro station;
-  The third stage: “Almazar” metro station – “Beruni” metro station;
-  The fourth stage: “Beruni” metro station – “Bodomzor” metro station;
-  The fifth stage: “Bodomzor” metro station - “Dustlik” metro station.

The new metro will pass through Yashnabad, Uchtepa, Almazar, Yunusabad, Chilanzar and Sergeli districts of the capital. After the ring metro starts functioning, it will be able to carry about 40,000 passengers a day, and after the launch of all five stages – about 1 million.

Uzbekistan Railways also presented a project for development of the metro until 2025, within which the length of branches will grow more than quadruple (up to 157 kilometers), 74 stations will appear, including 17 interchange stations.
